Nick Walters brings a wealth of experience from both the private and public sectors, offering unique leadership and project management insights. Appointed by President George W. Bush as State Director of USDA-Rural Development in Mississippi, Nick successfully led teams through challenging times, notably earning recognition for his service during Hurricane Katrina.
Managing 243 employees across 53 offices, he oversaw a substantial budget and distributed over $1 billion in program funds.

Before his federal appointment, Nick excelled in government business development for a Fortune 200 company and provided strategic consulting for pro-business candidates for over three decades. Following his tenure at USDA, he founded a grant-writing firm with a national reach, supporting non-profits in achieving their missions. An adjunct professor and published author, Nick is dedicated to education and community service.

A proud seventh-generation Mississippian, Nick holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Mississippi College. He is also distinguished as the first Development Finance Certified Professional by the Council of Development Finance Agencies.
